FIVE Educational And Easy Activities That Your Nanny And Kids Will Love | by Good People Agency7/9/2021 Dear PLP members, we know how important it is for a parent or a tutor to think about activities that are either fun and educational for our lovely kids. That’s why today we have partnered with Good People, the leading agency for private staff in Geneva, to get some fresh ideas for this summer. At Good People, not only can find the best candidate based on each family's needs, but also provide workshops and educational activities to the hirees during a full year guarantee. That’s why they know exactly how to face a whole afternoon of boredom. These activities are based on children aged from 4 to 10 years old. ONE: The alphabet tree Age: From 4 to 6 years old. Materials: Rounded scissors, brown and green sheets. How to do it: Your nanny can cut the brown sheet in a tree shape and the green sheet into 26 leaves, then write each alphabet letter in every leaf. When everything is ready, the kid will have to place each leaf on the tree’s branches while reading the letter and thinking about one word that starts with that letter. The nanny can help in this part so she teaches vocabulary to the child. What does it teach?: Vocabulary, reading and letter recognition. TWO: Choreographers for one day Age: From 4 to 10 years old, depending on the difficulty. Materials: Device to play music (either smartphone, Smart TV or iPods...) and some space to move free. How to do it: The nanny can put music on and ask the child to think about a dance move to start their own choreography. Then, she has to propose another move. After that, it will be the kid’s turn. And like so, after about 10 or 12 moves, they will have a full choreo that they can repeat. What does it teach?: Good memory, body coordination. THREE: Outdoor obstacle course Age: From 6 to 10 years old, depending on the difficulty. Materials: Hula hoop, a tennis or football ball, a pot or a tide full of water, stones, and some toys. How to do it: The nanny will have to prepare the obstacles with a little imagination and the items that you have at home. We propose to place a hula hoop on the floor, a ball so the kid can bounce it 5 times and a tide with water so the kid has to find their smallest toys between the stones. The challenge is to do the course as fast as possible. The nanny can participate too and can time the kid’s record. What does it teach?: Body coordination, agility. FOUR: Create a restaurant at home Age: From 6 to 10 years old. Materials: Modeling clay, and ‘’food’’ containers like empty boxes, dishes, glasses, etc. A paper sheet and a pen. How to do it: The key is to recreate a real restaurant at home. The nanny will have to get help from the children to think about the menu and ask them to write it down in the sheet. After that, the kids can be in charge of preparing the ‘’food’’ with the modeling clay and to set the table with the dishes, the glasses and cutlery. Finally, the nanny can sit down as if she was a real client of the restaurant, and the kid would play the role of waiter. What does it teach?: Vocabulary and stimulate imagination. FIVE: The art room Age: From 4 to 10 years old, depending on the difficulty. Materials: Paintings, some wide cards and paintbrushes. How to do it: The nanny will have to pick a wide topic that includes many elements (for example, a zoo) and start by describing an animal, so the kid has to ask about the colours, shapes and textures that the animal has to guess the name and be able to paint it. Then the kid can do the same with the nanny: think about an animal of the zoo, describe it and the nanny paints it on the card. What does it teach?: Arts and crafts, imagination, vocabulary and words association. As you can see, we can delight our children with the easiest and cheapest activities at home or out. We aim you to try any of these and let us know what you think about them and most of all, if the nanny has had a great time as well.
The Good People agency has provided this blog post and we hope that, if you need any help at home - either if it’s a nanny, housekeeper, or any other kind of private staff- you rely on them. Here you can contact them and learn more about her recruiting process.
